December Blog: The Scrub Bus Rolls In — And Changes Everything
Posted by KC on 9th Dec 2025
If December is all about joy, surprises, and a little bit of holiday magic… then The Scrub Bus delivered it all early this year.
We’ve officially had our mobile store for just over a month, and let me tell you — this 38-foot beast has already transformed the way we serve our medical professionals across Virginia. In the past, when we visited assisted living communities, we did our best, but setting up shop in dining rooms and activity spaces often meant interrupting meals, bingo showdowns, and whatever daytime TV classic happened to be on. (NOBODY wants to be the reason “The Price Is Right” gets paused.)
But now? We roll in, open the doors, and boom — a full retail store appears, complete with scrubs, shoes, accessories, and even dressing rooms. No disruptions. No rearranging of furniture. No apologizing to a room full of people who just want to finish their mashed potatoes in peace. The Scrub Bus lets us bring the Jeness experience to customers without ever stepping inside their building.
The First Adventure: A Wild Ride From the Start
The Scrub Bus made its grand entrance in the most chaotic, absolutely-on-brand way possible.
It was delivered on a Saturday night… at 9:30 PM.
We had to leave for Abingdon early Sunday morning.
Rich had never test driven it.
I repeat: never.
But when you’re committed to serving your customers (and maybe just a tiny bit fearless), you make it work. So at sunrise we loaded the bus, said a quick prayer, and hit the road. Through tunnels. Over mountains. In a 38-foot toy hauler that handled like the star of an action movie.
I’ll admit — I was slightly terrified. Rich, on the other hand, drove it like he was born to command large vehicles with zero warm-up laps. A true champion.
Winter Weather, Small Towns, and Big Wins
Since the RV arrived two weeks after it's due date, we didn't have time to get it wrapped. So we showed up in Abingdon without having let the staff know that we were not going to be setting up inside or that we the giant white camper was actually a mobile store. With the bitter cold and lack of communication on my part, I was afraid that Abingdon was going to be a bust. The amazing staff of Deer Meadows figured it out and became the first guests on The Scrub Bus. After our successful kickoff in Abingdon, we headed to Rural Retreat — where winter was apparently in full beast mode. The wind chill was four degrees, the snow was coming down sideways, and I was seriously reconsidering my life choices.
But the people of Rural Retreat? Tough as nails. A little blizzard wasn’t going to stop them from getting fresh scrubs. They showed up, we cranked up the heater, and had another fantastic day.
From there, The Scrub Bus rolled on to Harrisonburg, Waynesboro, and Stanardsville. With almost no notice and an RV that still looked like a blank white billboard, the staff at every stop managed to find us. (Bless them. Truly.)
By the end of our first week with the bus, we were exhausted, exhilarated, and completely convinced we were onto something special.

A Glow-Up and a Bright Future
Once we got back to Norfolk, The Scrub Bus finally had its makeover — and AG Wraps absolutely brought our wild vision to life. Now, when we roll in, there’s no mistaking who we are or what we do. And honestly? She looks stunning.
We’ve now visited nine locations — a mix of hospitals and assisted living communities — with one more to close out the year. The feedback has been incredible, and the energy this bus brings is contagious.
I’m already rapidly booking on-site sales for next year, and I can’t wait to bring the joy, convenience, and full Jeness experience to even more locations all around Virginia.
