? Step Into a Fresh Start – With Every Step We Bloom

Over the winter, Rich and I missed a few of our weekend rucks, something we normally commit to doing weekly. Life got busy, the weather got cold, and, well, we fell off a bit. But this past weekend, we laced up our Brooks, loaded up our packs, and took to the Elizabeth River Trail in Norfolk—and it was exactly what we needed. The flowering trees were just starting to bloom, and with every step, we were reminded that new seasons bring new energy.

When Rich and I are hiking or rucking, we typically talk about Scrubs by Jeness.  Some of our best business plans are developed on the trail. This past weekend, however, Rich was at an Entrepreneurs Organization retreat in Dallas, so I took a long, soul-fueling 10-mile walk alone.  As I trekked through the Norfolk Botanical Garden, and I found myself completely immersed in the magic of spring.

The daffodils were in full bloom—whole fields of them, golden and bright, dancing in the wind like little suns. The flowering trees arched over the paths, showering petals like confetti with every gentle breeze. It was the kind of beauty that makes you stop, breathe deeply, and feel completely alive.

As I walked, I reflected on health and wellness, both personally and professionally. These past few months have been a season of growth for our team at Jeness—full of intention, heart, and hustle. The end of the first quarter brought with it a sense of accomplishment, and now spring invites us to keep stepping forward.

Spring is nature’s way of showing us that it’s never too late to begin again. Even if you've fallen behind on your goals, routines, or self-care, now is a perfect time to recommit. Little changes, like getting outside for a walk, prepping healthy meals, or even taking a moment to breathe in fresh air, can make a big difference.

Let this season remind you that you don’t need everything to be perfect to begin again. Whether it’s a walk among daffodils, a shift in plans, or a quiet moment to yourself—every step is a chance to bloom.

Here’s to fresh starts, intentional steps, and brighter days ahead.
